Hope??!!

The English dictionary defines hope as, "the belief or expectation that something wished for can still happen." The Good Book summarizes hope as, "the virtuous desire for future good." Yes, hope is definitely both of these and yet so much more. I believe that hope is more practical than abstract. I see hope every day. I see it every where. Seeing it has given me my own definition of hope.

Hope is what makes me plan for tomorrow, today. Hope is what makes a baby you throw up laugh instead of cry because it believes you will catch it. Hope is what makes a single woman look her best because she knows one day her man is coming to sweep her off her feet.

Hope is what makes a barren wife choose names for her unborn kids because tomorrow might be the day she takes in. Hope is what makes people accept the rain because they know the sun is on its way. Hope is what makes a baby bird hop out of its nest and fly instead of fall.

Hope is what makes parents let go of their children knowing they will come back home. Hope is what makes a wife prepare her husband's meal before he gets home. Hope is what makes a woman push during labor.

Hope is what makes a farmer plant seeds. Hope is what makes a caterpillar spin itself into a cocoon to come out a butterfly. Hope is what keeps a poor man alive. Hope is what discharges a patient from the hospital. Hope is what keeps us going. Hope turns night into day, tears into laughter. Hope is blind faith.

Hope is praying to an unseen God and receiving answers. Hope, hope, hope. Hope is the only reason man still exists.
